Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha
Shri Vinod Shridhar Tawde was elected to the Rajya Sabha from Maharashtra in 2026. He is currently also a member of the Standing Committee on Finance and the Consultative Committee on External Affairs. With more than four decades of experience in politics, he has a deep understanding of public issues and matters concerning the people. As a Rajya Sabha member, ensuring the completion of Maharashtra’s development projects connected with the Centre and giving them momentum is among Vinod Tawde ji’s priorities.
National General Secretary Bhartiya Janta Party
In 2021, Vinod Tawde ji was entrusted with the responsibility of National General Secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Party, the world’s largest political party. Since then, he has established his influence as a political strategist and an efficient organiser. While serving as the party’s Bihar in-charge and successfully carrying out various responsibilities assigned by the party, the BJP achieved the historic feat of forming its first government with a Chief Minister in Bihar. In 2024, as the head of the All India Membership Drive, a record 15 crore members joined the Bharatiya Janata Party in 50 days. He has also handled various responsibilities related to the Presidential and Vice-Presidential elections, Haryana, the Chandigarh Mayor election, the Kerala elections, and served as the head of Mann Ki Baat.
Cabinet Minister, Government of Maharashtra
In 2014, Vinod Tawde ji entered the Legislative Assembly for the first time after winning from the Borivali Assembly constituency. Thereafter, as a minister in the Maharashtra Government, he worked on several important departments, including School Education, Parliamentary Affairs, Higher and Technical Education, Medical Education, Sports and Youth Welfare, Culture, Marathi Language, Minority Development, and Waqf, implementing several noteworthy decisions
Leader of Opposition, Maharashtra Legislative Council
In 2002, Vinod Tawde ji became a member of the Maharashtra Legislative Council for the first time. During his second term in 2011, he was elected Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council. As Leader of the Opposition, he strongly raised various public issues in the Maharashtra Legislative Council and drew the House’s attention to several important matters and problems facing the state.
State General Secretary, BJP Maharashtra
In 1995, Vinod Tawde ji took charge as the General Secretary of the Maharashtra state unit. This was the period when, after decades of struggle, the BJP–Shiv Sena alliance formed the government in Maharashtra. Recognising his organisational skills, he was given the responsibility of State General Secretary for a second time in 2002. During this period, Vinod Tawde ji worked to strengthen the organisation by taking the BJP’s ideology to every ward and every booth.
President, BJP Mumbai
In 1999, Vinod Tawde ji became the youngest president of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s Mumbai unit. During his tenure, the number of BJP councillors in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation doubled, increasing the party’s representation. He also worked with then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee ji to bring a budget for Mumbai, which helped several development projects take shape in the Mumbai region.

In 1994, Vinod Tawde ji joined the Bharatiya Janata Party, inspired by the principle, “Nation First, Organisation Second, Individual Last.” During this period, he actively participated in public issues and various other activities.
Associated with Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad
In 1980, Vinod Tawde ji joined the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad, inspired by the ideology of nationalism. During this period, he progressed from being an ordinary worker to becoming the National General Secretary. As a strong leader, he not only raised students’ issues but also worked towards their development and personality building.
