Beginnings & Inspiration
Vinod Tawde was born on 20 July 1963 into a middle-class Marathi family in Mumbai’s Girangaon, popularly known as the ‘village of the mills’. He looks up to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Swami Vivekananda and Veer Savarkar as his role models. His personality has been greatly influenced by lessons of these notable leaders. Late Bal Apte ji and late Madandas ji motivated him during his early days of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad. Later, he was inspired by Bharat Ratna late Atal Bihari Vajpayee ji and Shri. Lal Krishna Advani ji.
He considers himself blessed to have worked alongside brilliant strategists and charismatic leaders like late Pramod Mahajan ji, late Gopinath Munde ji and union minister Shri. Nitin Gadkari ji who contributed significantly in the growth and consolidation of the Bharatiya Janata Party as a formidable political outfit in Maharashtra. He also got the opportunity of working closely with the visionary Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri. Narendra Modi ji, Shri. Amit Shah ji and Shri. Rajnath Singh ji who are spearheading the vision of ‘Naya Bharat’ a self-reliant India which will thrive on its youthful energy, technological advancements and self-sustaining capabilities.

From Activist to Politician: The Early Years
Vinod Vijaya Shridhar Tawde is an Indian politician and a senior leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party, the biggest political party in the world. He has been devotedly carrying out his duties in the best interest of the people and the country, first in Maharashtra and now at the Centre. His leadership style is unique due to his ability to strike the ideal balance between assertiveness and tact, whether it is to strengthen the party or to defeat the Opposition.
Leading the Charge: Opposition Leadership
He served as the Leader of the Opposition and a member of the Maharashtra Legislative Council three times before being appointed as the state cabinet minister. From 1995 to 1999, he was the general secretary of Maharashtra BJP. In addition to speaking out against the widespread corruption and irregularities that characterized the Congress-NCP government, Vinod Tawde was also instrumental in bringing them to light. He not only raised relevant issues in public interest in the Legislative Council, but he also endeavoured to secure sufficient funding for disaster relief. Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the prime minister at the time, approved the Mumbai Urban Transport Project-I as a result of Vinod Tawde’s efforts.
Leading in the Present Era
Vinod Tawde began his political career with the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad and currently he is holding the position of National General Secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Party. Prior to this, he served as a minister in the Maharashtra government, overseeing a number of significant responsibilities including school education, higher and technical education, medical education, sports and youth welfare, minority development, parliamentary affairs, Marathi Bhasha (language) and culture. He has also served as the Guardian Minister for Suburban Mumbai.
Vinod Tawde persistently supported Maratha reservation without hindering reservation to the other communities. He has always prioritized and consistently worked to resolve matters concerning the youth.
